Episode 91: Stoking the fires of motorcycle awesomeness

Episode 91 – Stoking the fires of motorcycle awesomeness
November 6, 2011
This week, The Pace Podcast discusses Mosha, the elephant with the prosthetic leg, and how Mosha’s life has changed since her unfortunate accident. After Mosha, the guys talk about… wait, no, none of that is true at all. James and Chris do, however, discuss Hong Kong’s adoption of Brammo electric bikes for urban patrol use. The news is rife with V-Strom goodness, both the newly designed 650 and the big-boy legacy 1000.

Speaking of big-boy toys, Triumph releases a new Tiger, and it’s bigger and better than ever. Honda gives us…. (insert drumroll here)… a new Crosstourer based on the concept bike shown at last year’s international motorcycle shows. Oh, and E-15 is going to end the world. Fortunately, Mosha is ready for the challenge.

Linkeedinks…

Episode 90: It IS a scooter!

Episode 90: It IS a scooter!

This week the guys are talking with listener, friend, and all around great guy – despite the orange scooter – Ryan Hettenbach. Ryan rode along for some of the Pace Podcast Barber Museum trip in September, and recalls some of his impressions riding with a group, as well as riding longer days and longer miles on the scooter.

Ryan also talks about his preparations for next year’s Scooter Cannonball Run, running from East to West in 8 days.

After talking with Ryan, the guys try to discern: is it live or Memore… er… Is it a motorcycle or a scooter? We’re talking about the Aprilia SRV800; it’s got a frame-mounted engine, chain drive, scooter body styling and ergonomics, an auto trans, sport-sized tires. What is it?

Our apologies, but we just couldn’t make a show happen this week. Please tune in next week for a whole new show.

In the meantime, enjoy this great ride report video from Jeff Katzer.

Episode 89: Reverse Entropy

We open things up with a first hand impression of Delaware’s MSF program this week. After that we talk Kawasaki, Kawasaki and more Kawasaki. Then we wrap it all up with nice little email shaped bow. Ready for delivery.

Episode 88: Here comes the sun (in a forward-thinking, synergistic Triumph top case), do do do do, do

Episode 88 – Here comes the sun (in a forward-thinking, synergistic Triumph top case), do do do do, do.
October 9, 2011
James tells us about his new top case, finally delivered and installed by Triumph, and how it brings a completeness and whole-life synergy to his commuting and luggage-using lifestyle. (don’t mind me, I’ve been in a lot of marketing meetings lately)

The guys discuss the local weather lately, and how the strange yellow ball in the sky has finally returned to rain down its lovely light upon us all (or some wacky stuff like that), infusing us all with positive energy, and bringing forth new ways of looking at the sky as a metaphor for life. (somebody stop me)

James also talks about the limits of the Teiz Commute suit in the weather, and then gives us all some information on a few of the farkles he’s added to his bike and smart phone, bringing synergy and convergence to…. ya know, I just don’t really know how to complete that sentence without it sounding like a marketing slogan from some non-descript “business consulting firm” that never really explains what they do and charges you $550 per hour for the convenience of that lack of understanding.

So we’re not going to do that.

Because we can’t charge you.

The guys also talk about the new Honda cross-genre bike being developed for the world market. Since the new machine is named after one of the Acura car models, and Honda being a division of the Honda corporation, we see that synergy taking shape in the form of… wait, sorry… I’m doing it again.

Yamaha cements their place in the 2012 US motorcycle marketplace by redefining market expectations with its strong commitment to legacy and the common paradigm, while envisioning a new tomorrow with… DAMN IT! Stop it. Yeah, Yamaha announces the 2012 models.

Links, in synergistic symbiosis with the digital… STOP IT!!!

Episode 87: Ma’am, these are prisoners

This one is all about the official Pace Motorcycle Podcast road trip to The Barber Motorsports Museum. Including a dead battery, other electrical problems, a flat tire, a bus full of prisoners, a whole bunch of police officers, piles of pine mulch and some locals that might have been a little too helpful. Oh, and aliens. Yep, they were probably aliens.

Road Trip Hiatus

We’re on the road this week. The Pace is headed to the Barber Motorsports Museum just out side of Birmingham AL. We’re taking 2 weeks off to accommodate the trip but there is lots of activity on line. You can follow along on the official Facebook event page for the trip, the show’s Facebook page, Jeff and Todd’s MotoTour 2010 page and possibly, my Twitter feed. I’m not sure about that last one yet. I missed the start of the trip for personal reasons but I hope to catch up with the crew on the road early this week.

Look for a brand new episode on October 2nd.

Episode 86: It’s more naked than the other Nakeds, and it’s from Europe

Episode 86
Sept. 11, 2011
This week the guys talk about the new Husq Nuda 900 in all its naked glory. How can a naked bike look more naked…? The Nuda gets it done. Costco goes Zero and brings the electric bike crazy to the Canadian public. What bike gets honorable mention in one category and wins a completely different category? Well, check out the top-10 list for 2011 from Motorcycle.com and learn the answer. But one question remains…. Is it a cruiser? Nissan takes heat for crashing bikes in a cartoon. Yeah… a cartoon. Things to get over: that.

We have some excellent feedback this week and Jim Long asks for some Pace Podcast Opining DuJour on the Harley Switchback. In short: the guys like it.

Episode 85: Huge and Incredible Power Requirements

This week we open with the unexpected ways in which a new seat can change a bike and Chris’ quest for gauges. We’ll move on to some new headlight tech from BMW, new model news from MV and Indian and Husky sets up some new shops. Then we wrap it all up with some new email from you guys.
