This week we talk about the (apparently?) finalized Audi-Ducati deal. Chris is convinced the status-quo will continue being all quoey, while James thinks there’s going to be some change. Good? Bad? Time will tell. I don’t think the guys need to enter a to-the-death cage match to prove who’s right. Probably for the best. We don’t have any mops around the Pace studios to clean up the mess.

This week, The Pace Podcast discusses Mosha, the elephant with the prosthetic leg, and how Mosha’s life has changed since her unfortunate accident. After Mosha, the guys talk about… wait, no, none of that is true at all. James and Chris do, however, discuss Hong Kong’s adoption of Brammo electric bikes for urban patrol use. The news is rife with V-Strom goodness, both the newly designed 650 and the big-boy legacy 1000.

Speaking of big-boy toys, Triumph releases a new Tiger, and it’s bigger and better than ever. Honda gives us…. (insert drumroll here)… a new Crosstourer based on the concept bike shown at last year’s international motorcycle shows. Oh, and E-15 is going to end the world. Fortunately, Mosha is ready for the challenge.

<itunes:summary>Episode 91 – Stoking the fires of motorcycle awesomeness
November 6, 2011

This week, Jeff Katzer brings us another of his great ride report videos. Make sure to check it out. This guy makes a compelling video! James and Chris talk about the new V-Strom, now that Suzuki has officially released the cat from its burlap sack. New engine, new ABS, new look, same great mission. Husky gives the Super Duke and a few other hooligan bikes a real competitor for the “stupid impractical fun” category. BMW taunts us with more electronic wizardry; the question remains, is it the wave of the future, or a continued “nice to have” for the premium product space? It looks like Husqvarna has a promising new street bike in the pipe and Honda may have a new middleweight nudie bike (we hope!). Canada gets serious about noise, Aerostich wants to let use your smartphone with gloves on and we have lots of good stuff from listeners like you. There's a gear review from Josh Davis, a video from Paul Jones, an audio sample from Jeff Gilbert and recommendations from Todd Lampone and Matt.</itunes:summary>

This is the part where we write a little paragraph that tells you what we talked about in this weeks show. And it goes a little somethin’ like this…

Motus is making more noise, Chris got some new stuff, Leicester County in the U.K. is giving away retina burning backpacks and Chip Yeats goes really fast on an electric bike. We got a boat load of feedback from Denver Conway, David Laniuk, Ryan Hettenbach, Brian Medley, Ben Island and Mike Sandler. Thank you all.

We talked a little bit about my review of the Cycle Gear branded knock-offs of the CRG mirrors. That review was written before I moved my page to a new platform and it didn’t survive the transition very well. I’ll post those links once I get it fixed but here’s the big take away: You get what you pay for.

American muscle bike, hydrogen fuel cells and Zero gets far, far more than zero! This week, after a week’s hiatus, James and Chris are back to explain exactly what the new Motus will cost, and of course to delve into all the deep and detailed tech specs. After that, we get a science lesson on hydrogen – and by science we mean the guys speculate, guess and postulate on fuel cells. Zero wows us again, this time not with a new bike or model, but with investors tossing more and more cash at Zero. Pretty soon they’re going to have to start burning the cash because it’s got to be taking up all the room. James doens’t get all wacky and political, yet utters the words “good for the fed”, as we learn that there’s a bill pending to block the use of federal funds for motorcycle-only checkpoints. Japan has more on its plate than making sure the USA gets their toys; most of Japan’s motorcycle manufacturers shut down production for the time being.

Ok, this is the last week we rag on the VFR. Really. I mean… we’ll try. But seriously, the VFR is rumored to be getting a big trailie sibling. That’ll be interesting to see. Right?

We talk about how the EPA nerfs bench racing the ZX-10R, but the good news is no one will notice. I mean… who’s gonna wind that thing up that high, right?

Triumph continues to be Triumph, and this time they’re doing it with a cruiser – giving away thousands of dollars worth of touring upgrades to the Bonne America. Speaking of Triumph, James talks about his test ride on the Sprint GT and by the sounds of it, one is headed for his garage soon

Suzuki gets tricky with pricing on the GZ250, their entry level cruiser-esque bike. Looks like they’re blowing out old stock.

Did we mention Triumph? ‘cause we get to see pictures of the upcoming 800 twin in its dirty clothes. Look out F800… The Tiger’s got its eye on your lunch!

Guzzi updates the Norge/GT with suspenders and an engine update. Is this the first of the “full line revamp” we talked about a few weeks ago? Or is this maybe Guzzi parts-binning some updates on it before a big change…? Stay tuned. Great things could be headed our way from Carlo’s legacy.

We’ll depress you with crappy sales numbers, then lighten the mood with helmets, pictures and contests. We’re like your cranky bipolar uncle, like that.

Colleen gets the nod for the tool kit contest, with Sara getting a runner up mention. Rock on Sara! Craig… loved your kit, but hey… Barbie box. ‘nuff said.

Stay tuned for more contest news, product reviews and more news about the upcoming video offerings. Big things in store!

This week Chris and I start with a conversation about responsibility. We then move on to a discussion about Orange County Choppers that does not involve pointing and laughing (no, seriously).
This week James and I give you some updates on Ride To Eat (.com), the up and coming online encyclopedia for… well, ride-to-eat destinations.
This week we are joined by our friend Nagi. Nagi is from India and has spent the last 10 years in the United States. We discuss the differences between being a motorcyclist in the USA and being a motorist in India. Nagi helps us understand how 2-wheeled travel is just a way of life in India, vs. the apparent “toy” or recreational nature of motorcycling in the USA.

Nagi also points out the differences in long-term ownership here and abroad, and how small-displacement engines are the norm in India, compared to the big, powerful machines we typically see here in the US. Before moving to America, Nagi rode bikes typically in the 125cc range, whereas here in America, Nagi is riding a Suzuki GSXR750 and a Honda Shadow VLX 600.
