Episode 71: I Wouldn’t Hear it While I’m Being Incinerated

rss_graphic_144x144

This is the part where we write a little paragraph that tells you what we talked about in this weeks show. And it goes a little somethin’ like this…

Motus is making more noise, Chris got some new stuff, Leicester County in the U.K. is giving away retina burning backpacks and Chip Yeats goes really fast on an electric bike. We got a boat load of feedback from Denver Conway, David Laniuk, Ryan Hettenbach, Brian Medley, Ben Island and Mike Sandler. Thank you all.

We talked a little bit about my review of the Cycle Gear branded knock-offs of the CRG mirrors. That review was written before I moved my page to a new platform and it didn’t survive the transition very well. I’ll post those links once I get it fixed but here’s the big take away: You get what you pay for.

We also talked about what we’re going to talk about next week. We’d really like your help with that. You can find the Craftsman Experience presents Erik Buell Racing video below. What do think all of this means for EBR as it relates to street bikes?

Episode 67: Not in the ballpark, and that’s OK!

Episode 67 for March 20, 2011
Not in the ballpark, and that’s ok!
American muscle bike, hydrogen fuel cells and Zero gets far, far more than zero! This week, after a week’s hiatus, James and Chris are back to explain exactly what the new Motus will cost, and of course to delve into all the deep and detailed tech specs. After that, we get a science lesson on hydrogen – and by science we mean the guys speculate, guess and postulate on fuel cells. Zero wows us again, this time not with a new bike or model, but with investors tossing more and more cash at Zero. Pretty soon they’re going to have to start burning the cash because it’s got to be taking up all the room. James doens’t get all wacky and political, yet utters the words “good for the fed”, as we learn that there’s a bill pending to block the use of federal funds for motorcycle-only checkpoints. Japan has more on its plate than making sure the USA gets their toys; most of Japan’s motorcycle manufacturers shut down production for the time being.

Lots and lots of feedback!

Episode 66: We’ve all seen Get Smart

rss_graphic_144x144

This week we talk about Chris’s new Zook, deliver some good news from HD, some bad news from Suzuki and we try real hard not to pick on Honda too much. Zero has a new bike, L.A. has a new plan and we have Scott Bolton’s AMA season Preview.

Episode 49: Triumphantly Honda!

Episode 49 - Oct 17, 2010

Ok, this is the last week we rag on the VFR. Really. I mean… we’ll try. But seriously, the VFR is rumored to be getting a big trailie sibling. That’ll be interesting to see. Right?

We talk about how the EPA nerfs bench racing the ZX-10R, but the good news is no one will notice. I mean… who’s gonna wind that thing up that high, right?

Triumph continues to be Triumph, and this time they’re doing it with a cruiser – giving away thousands of dollars worth of touring upgrades to the Bonne America. Speaking of Triumph, James talks about his test ride on the Sprint GT and by the sounds of it, one is headed for his garage soon

Suzuki gets tricky with pricing on the GZ250, their entry level cruiser-esque bike. Looks like they’re blowing out old stock.

Did we mention Triumph? ‘cause we get to see pictures of the upcoming 800 twin in its dirty clothes. Look out F800… The Tiger’s got its eye on your lunch!

Guzzi updates the Norge/GT with suspenders and an engine update. Is this the first of the “full line revamp” we talked about a few weeks ago? Or is this maybe Guzzi parts-binning some updates on it before a big change…? Stay tuned. Great things could be headed our way from Carlo’s legacy.

We’ll depress you with crappy sales numbers, then lighten the mood with helmets, pictures and contests. We’re like your cranky bipolar uncle, like that.

Colleen gets the nod for the tool kit contest, with Sara getting a runner up mention. Rock on Sara! Craig… loved your kit, but hey… Barbie box. ‘nuff said.

Stay tuned for more contest news, product reviews and more news about the upcoming video offerings. Big things in store!

Episode 42: Mostly Harmless

This week Chris and I  start with a conversation about responsibility. We then move on to a discussion about Orange County Choppers that does not involve pointing and laughing (no, seriously). There are more spy shots from Ducati, a tarted up V-Strom and California still thinks motorcycles are still OK even if they’re not telling us that any more. We close out the show with a talk about riding with munchkins and we announce our very first contest with big thanks to Aerostich.

Episode 40: Eurekabeaver Contest!

Episode 40 – EurekaBeaver Contest!

This week James and I give you some updates on Ride To Eat (.com), the up and coming online encyclopedia for… well, ride-to-eat destinations. Steve is getting closer and closer to his “one-k” project. We also mention how Gary (from Arkansas) shared a great photo with us and we hope that trend continues.

We talk about the apparent spy video of a new Buell street-worthy-in-the-making motorcycle…? Maybe? Time will tell. Hell for Leather gets Hell for Cynical regarding Suzuki. Harley bows to Ural as THE king of the sidecar.

Aerostich: Genius or Madness returns with a hydraulically adjustable multi-wrench. Looks promising. And speaking of vendors, Competition Accessories gets a quick mention for having some blowout deals on Scorpion helmets.

We love the ‘lectrics – so we point out a couple of the home-built entries into the segment and some resources for those interested. Then we round it out with an email from Triumph and more speculation.

Oh yeah… stay tuned for CONTESTS!!!

James got the following email from Triumph:

We know secrets are difficult to keep, but we’ll trust you with ours…

Adventure bikes have to carry out a whole range of roles with minimum fuss. That’s why Triumph has been busy ensuring its latest pair of young cubs will set a new standard when they’re introduced later this year.

We think a triple is the best configuration for an adventure bike. It’s compact and has a natural character that ideally suits a wide range of duties. Our long stroke engine will deliver smooth, controllable torque for both tricky off-road riding and the urban jungle…but with the higher rpm characteristics that just devour on-road miles.

A triple is also more refined than a twin, which means that the bike is less tiring and less intrusive on the open road. So you can just relax and enjoy the trip.

Episode 38: If I’d Done it in My Twenties…

This week we recap our stellar record in predicting the results of the Cycle World Top 10. We are then joined by Chris Harr while we talk about Suzuki’s triumphant “return” to the U.S. market, Gladiator Rio’s review of the Super Tenere and an iPhone app called TripCast from Jeep. That’s right, Jeep. We close it out with a great conversation about Mr. Harr’s very drool-worthy Aprilia RSV4.

Episode 36: Is my Enfield on fire?

Episode 36: Is my Enfield on fire?

This week we are joined by our friend Nagi. Nagi is from India and has spent the last 10 years in the United States. We discuss the differences between being a motorcyclist in the USA and being a motorist in India. Nagi helps us understand how 2-wheeled travel is just a way of life in India, vs. the apparent “toy” or recreational nature of motorcycling in the USA.

Nagi also points out the differences in long-term ownership here and abroad, and how small-displacement engines are the norm in India, compared to the big, powerful machines we typically see here in the US. Before moving to America, Nagi rode bikes typically in the 125cc range, whereas here in America, Nagi is riding a Suzuki GSXR750 and a Honda Shadow VLX 600.

The Pace Podcast’s theme music is No Way by Kunk.

This week’s additional music is from California rock band Sundial Project. The band maintains a Facebook Fan Page as well as an iTunes Store page.
